    Start with a quick check that you can access the two required Thinkific Analytics dashboards. You won’t be asked to upload anything until you know you have the right exports.

  2. Download and upload your exports

    Follow the step-by-step guide to download the complete Enrolments and Student Performance exports. Upload the original, unfiltered files—there is no spreadsheet work or data cleanup for you to do.

  3. Receive your human-reviewed report

    Each shortlisted student and the finished report are reviewed by a human before it is emailed directly to you. You decide who to prioritise, whether to reach out and how to adapt any suggested messages.

YOUR DATA

Your files are used only to create your report

Student Retainer never asks for your Thinkific login or password. Your files are uploaded through Tally, processed locally, and used only to prepare your report. Your finished report is emailed directly to you.

Nothing is sent to your students and Student Retainer does not contact them. You remain in control of every follow-up.

Your two exports are deleted within 14 days after your report is sent. Your finished report is deleted within 30 days. You can request earlier deletion at any time.

Hi, I’m Alex, the founder of Student Retainer. I built this service to turn complex Thinkific data into a clear, practical plan creators can use.

I personally review every report before it reaches you. I check that each inclusion is supported by the available data and that the suggested next steps are practical to ensure you receive useful context, not an unexplained automated score.

THE FOUNDING-CREATOR OFFER

Why is the report free?

Student Retainer is a new, founder-run service based in New Zealand. I’m offering the complete human-reviewed report free to a small group of founding creators while I refine the service.

After your report is delivered, I may invite you to share feedback or discuss an optional four-week pilot. Neither is required. There is no payment and no obligation to continue.

CLEAR AND HONEST

Clear guidance, without the guesswork

Student Retainer identifies useful patterns in the course activity you provide. It does not guess why a student slowed down or claim to predict what they will do next.

Thinkific exports may be up to one day behind your live site, so check each student’s current activity before reaching out. The report gives you a clear place to start; you decide who needs your support.

Questions before you share your exports?

What happens to my data?

Your files are used only to create your report. Your students’ information is never sold, shared for any other purpose, or used to train anything, and your finished report is sent only to you. Your export files are deleted within 14 days of your report being sent, and your report is kept for 30 days, then deleted. If you want your data deleted sooner, you can email alex@studentretainer.com and any deletion request will be completed within two business days.

Do I need to share my Thinkific login?

No. You upload only the two required Thinkific Analytics exports. Your login, password and live account access are never requested.

Which exports do I need?

The complete Enrolments export and the complete Student Performance export from Thinkific Analytics. The step-by-step guide to do this can be found here.

Will Student Retainer contact my students?

No. Nothing is sent to students. Your report provides clear context and ready-to-send messages; you decide who to contact and what happens next.

Is my student data put into AI?

No. Your data and your students’ data are not put into an AI system. The initial analysis follows fixed software rules, and Alex personally reviews the finished report before it is sent.

Will every report contain 20 students?

Not necessarily. Your report includes up to 20 students supported by the available export data. Weak recommendations are not added simply to fill the list.
